Rain boots and Endolphins.

First of all, I totally need to get an umbrella. This is ridiculous. I'm sitting here at work this morning and I'm almost thirty (I'm not sure what that has to do with this, but just putting it out there) and my Pumas are soaking wet at work because I don't actually own an umbrella or a decent pair of rain boots and it's pouring out. I figured, somehow, that since the subway is a half block from my house and then a half block from work, I wouldn't get that wet. Um... I have clearly overestimated my rain dodging skills. I am not good at that. Seeing as how slushy snow season is coming upon us in New York as well, I think I better get me some boots (and not the fancy cute kind that can't get wet... I already have those...).

Here's the problem, in Macy's last night I made a resolution to not spend any more money on clothes or clothes-like items this month. Now, if you're going to make resolutions about not spending money, Macy's is not a great place to do it. I think the zoo would be a great place to do something like that... you would look at all those naked animals and feel like, hey, look at that noble lion, he doesn't spend any money on clothes! He's not even thinking about it!

Because right when I made the resolution I saw a pair of yellow rain boots with little blue dogs on them. They were really cute. I did not buy them. But I have been thinking about them all day. See what's the worst that I could have seen if I was at the zoo? Maybe one of those awesome helium balloons? A big pretzel? An oversized lollipop? A lame ass pencil with a lizard eraser? I can totally resist those things, no problem. Damn it. I totally want the boots with the dogs on them. Woof.

In other good news though yoga was great today. It felt so good to get up in the cold and then get into that super warm room and stretch around. It was really tough, but I feel like I'm getting better at it and I just feel so f-ing good afterwards. Plus it somehow makes me feel more creative. I was taking all these notes on my novel on the train ride. I don't really care why it works, although I am interested - is it just that because I have all those endolphins flipping around in my bloodstream that I feel more confident and happier and freer to think creative thoughts? Hmm, something to ponder.

The weirdest thing happened Sunday night - I woke up at around 2:30 and heard a noise in my studio apartment that sounded like someone was turning a key in my door. I totally freaked out and ran over to the door but couldn't see anyone out of the peephole and the lock wasn't moving. I figured I must have been hallucinating so I went back to bed - then the same thing happens like 30 minutes later. And it sounds exactly like a key turning in a lock, which, especially since I'm on the ground floor, was super super scary. My first thought was: It's the bugs. I don't know how, but it's the bugs. I'm being haunted by the ghosts of bugs past. In my mind I did a mental tally of how many bugs I have killed since all this began whether by shoe or broom or magazine slapping, or poison... I figured roughly 700 billion. OK, that's totally enough bug ghosts to make a ghost key in lock sound. AND given that these bugs are assholes, it is TOTALLY something they would do....

Hot yoga was great today - my friend ended up coming, which was one of those great surprises. You have to be quiet in hot yoga so I was resisting every urge to talk to her, but we got to put our matts next to each other so that was fun. Plus we got the walk home to chat. This girl is one of my funniest friends, so even when we aren't talking about anything particularly hilarious I always walk away smiling. It was a great class too, a teacher I really like, and they were having a sale on memberships just as mine is running out, so i got the deal of the century. Which is great cause I have no money...

Speaking of no money, I've decided to solicit someone else to do the dog website. I really wanted it to be a project with me and the bf, but I feel like I'm running out of time if I want to get this up for the holidays. (Did you know that 70% of dog owners buy their dogs holiday presents? Well they totally do. I need to get in on that action. I need some money for holiday presents myself. Two xmases ago I was so broke that i just started wrapping things I found in my apartment and giving them to my family. "Here you go Dad, an old take out container and half an eraser!" It was bad. If I had had a pet like a gerbil or something at this point in my life it totally would have gotten wrapped. Anyway, I think this is a good step, I felt like I was hounding my BF about the site and both of us are really busy, so I think this is a good decision. We'll see how much it costs... I may be wrapping things in my apartment after all come December.
